Derby name: SunDazed
Number: #710
Position(s): Primarily blocker, sometimes pivot.
How long have you been playing derby?
Since December 2015.
How did you get started playing derby?
A friend in high school tried to get me to join juniors, but I never could because of my schedule. When I was 20, a friend of my mother's invited her to a practice and we went. I never looked back!
What's your favorite thing about it?
That I get to show my strength and I love the sport of derby, for so many reasons.
How did you pick your derby name/number?
A couple of teammates helped my pick my name. My sunny disposition and that I'll leave people dazed on the track.
What's your proudest accomplishment on the track?
Blocking a Team USA jammer while my team's jammer got lead and scored points. I was able to successfully track her across the track and maintain contact on her the whole time, holding her alone until my pack was back together.
What's your gnarliest injury?
In 2017 I got a spiral fracture of my fibula and destroyed the soft tissue in my ankle. They did surgery to put in hardware, then took it out eleven months later. It was a year before I really played again.
How would you describe your derby playing style?
Pushy and strong.
What are your goals for the season?
To play more derby, continue skill development and improving my ability to play with my teammates instead of always being the lone blocker.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Play more derby. I play here in Bristol and also for a team in Asheville, NC, Blue Ridge Roller Derby, and will join other teams on track when invited. I also seek out invitational scrimmages and clinics for additional play and training time.
If you had a song play every time you walked into a room, what would it be?
