How long have you been playing derby?

I started the boot camp in August of 2025 and completed my assessment the following December. I have been a team skater for about 7 months now.

How did you get started playing derby?

About 2 years ago, I was struggling with substance abuse issues that led to me moving back in with my family to seek help. After getting sober, I wanted a hobby and a community so that I could start feeling like myself again. I heard about Little City from one of my coworkers who is also a member of the team. Playing roller derby seemed intimidating, but I signed up anyway and I’m glad I did.

What's your favorite thing about it?

I most enjoy getting to know people on the team. I also love working together to improve drills and coming up with new ideas for plays.

How did you pick your derby name/number?

My derby name is mainly inspired by my love for fairies. I wanted my name to have a half rhyme so I played on the candy Pixy Stix. I modified the spelling to reference the river that serves as a barrier between the underworld and the world of the living in Greek mythology. I picked my number because it rhymes with my derby name so it’s easier for me to hear during a game or loud environment.

What's your proudest accomplishment on the track?

Working to lessen anxiety and confidence issues are most important for my performance when building basic skills and putting them into practice. That’s why my biggest accomplishment is simply being here and participating in this sport. A few years ago, I never could have seen myself doing something like roller derby. This is something that is outside of my comfort zone and I will always be working towards a goal of doing things even when I am uncomfortable or scared inside and outside of derby.

What's your gnarliest injury?

Thankfully, I haven’t had any injuries that were truly serious. The worst one was a sprained ankle which was definitely hard to deal with and very painful.

How would you describe your derby playing style?

I like to spin a lot but as a new skater, my main goal is to stay low and focus on the basics so I haven’t developed much of a style yet.

What are your goals for the season?

My goal for myself is to build enough stamina and strength that I can begin focusing on new skills or skills that I’m not confident in.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I have a wide range of hobbies and interests including philosophy, art, language, anthropology, math, history, and activism. When I have the time, I enjoy doing logic and number puzzles, drawing, painting, making jewelry, doing makeup, and spending time with my friends and family.

If you had a song play every time you walked into a room, what would it be?
