How long have you been playing derby?

2.5 years

How did you get started playing derby?

I skated a lot as a kid and about 3 years ago I got back into skates for the first time in over 20 years. I met Pack Daddy who convinced me to check out LCRD. I finally got the nerve to show up one Sunday night in January 2023 and now they can’t get rid of me. 😂

What's your favorite thing about it?

For the first time in my life, I found a place where I feel like I belong. I found a community that feels like family and I’ve made lifelong friends.

How did you pick your derby name/number?

I love a good pun. And 5 is my favorite number.

What's your proudest accomplishment on the track?

There isn’t just one specifically, but anytime I can successfully help my jammer with a whip, keep them from going out of bounds, or just clearing a path, I feel like I’ve done my job well.

What's your gnarliest injury?

On the track, I’ve been lucky. I’ve only suffered deep lower leg bruising from the occasional low block.

How would you describe your derby playing style?

Holding it down like a brick wall or busting through like a wrecking ball.

What are your goals for the season?

To improve my offense. To get more comfortable on my toe stops. Most importantly, I need to remember to breathe.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I love to thrift, work on project cars, and ride my motorcycle.
